Bomb Sight – Mapping the WW2 Bomb Census (London)

This project is mapping the London WW2 bomb census between 7 October 1940 and 06 June 1941. The original 1940s bomb census maps have been scanned and geo-referenced with the result that the geographical locations of all the falling bombs recorded on the original maps have been digitally captured. The data has been integrated into two different types of applications: web-mapping and statistics for the different areas. These allow you to see how many bombs fell in different wards and boroughs in London as well as read memories of Londoners contributed to the BBC WW2 People’s War. There is also images from the Imperial War Museum to allow you to see what it was like in London at the time.
