The National Archives UK – Manorial Documents Register

The Manorial Documents Register (MDR) identifies the nature and location of manorial records. These records include court rolls, surveys, maps, terriers, documents and all other documents relating to the boundaries, franchises, wastes, customs or courts of a manor. Title deeds are not included in the Register.  The MDR is partially computerised with online searches available for: Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cumberland, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Isle of Wight, Lancashire, Middlesex, Norfolk, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Surrey, Warwickshire, Westmorland, the three Ridings of Yorkshire and all of Wales. Work is currently progressing on a further five counties: Essex, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire and Sussex.
TIP: Searches are available by Manor name but if you use the advanced search and search by county you get a list of all the manors in that county.
